Downtown Meridian’s Halloween gathering arrives on a Thursday this year. The city’s annual Trunk or Treat is scheduled for October 22, from 6 to 9 p.m., at City Hall Plaza, 33 East Broadway Avenue.
Attendance is free. The city encourages an optional donation of at least $1 per child to support the Meridian Food Bank Backpack Program and identifies donation barrels for dry goods. Treat that as an opportunity to contribute if you can, rather than an admission requirement.

The announced program includes music, a dance floor, live performances and candy distribution by local businesses. Check the current city page for arrival information and any changes before heading downtown. Allow for a busy setting, and make a plan with companions for where to meet if the group separates.
Choose a costume that is comfortable for walking and an easy way to carry treats. There is no need to reach every participating station to enjoy the evening. Leaving time for a performance or a conversation can make the event feel like a community gathering as well as a stop on the Halloween calendar.
